Best of NYC Art Week
Over the weekend, New York City hosted multiple art fairs across the city marking the art world’s return to a semi-new normal (vaccination status was verified upon entry, masks were required as was timed-entry to control capacity).
The mood at both Armory and Independent was optimistic and sales were strong. It was the first time New York City had hosted multiple art fairs to this scale, since before the pandemic (with the exception of FRIEZE in May) and dealers, collectors, artists and advisors alike were jubilant to see one another and experience so much great art in person.
Highlights from the fairs included:
Armory: Donte Hayes (Mindy Solomon), Hayley Barker (Shrine), Sarah Crowner (Kayne Griffin), George Bolster (Ulterior), Charlotte Keates (Arusha), Dannielle Tegeder and Sharmistha Ray (Carrie Secrist Gallery).
Independent: Chase Hall (Monique Meloche), Maysha Mohamedi (Parrasch Heijnen), Amy Feldman (Galerie Eva Presenhuber), Sally Han (Fortnight Institute).
Most notably, I was thrilled to be able to secure pieces for my clients in advance of the fair - artists whose work was fully sold out on the first day of the fair.
