Artist to Watch: Donte Hayes

Influenced by sources ranging from hip-hop, science fiction, and history, Hayes creates these incredible textured sculptures.

Of his work he says, “My goal is not to be an activist; I’m an artist. My work speaks to what it feels like to be a human being. I never think of my work as didactic. I want to make art that is welcoming so all humanity can see it.”

Hayes work was shown at the Armory show in New York City by Miami dealer Mindy Solomon where the booth was sold out soon into the fair.
