Guide to Miami Art Week 2022
November is here and Miami Art Week AKA Art Basel Miami Beach is starting in just a few weeks.
Here is all the information you need to know about visiting the art fairs and concurrent exhibitions happening during Miami Art Week:
Art Basel Miami Beach:
The most well known of the art fairs is Art Basel Miami Beach (ABMB) which takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center. It’s a huge fair and could easily take you multiple days to explore. Tickets are being sold exclusively online here in advance of the fair.
Pro-tip: register your kids for the drop-off art-making space while you walk around the fair. RSVP is required.
VIP preview for ABMB is Tuesday, November 29 and the Vernissage is November 30 with public days opening Thursday, December 1 through Saturday, December 3. Booths to check out include Tanya Bonakdar, James Cohan, Kasmin, GAVLAK, and Sicardi Ayers Bacino.
Art Miami:
Art Miami is another huge art fair which takes places across the causeway at the Pavilion at the One Herald Building and the VIP opening is November 29 with opening days for the public on Wednesday, November 30 through Sunday, December 4. Tickets are available here. Booths to check out include Maybaum Gallery, Zemack Contemporary, and Sous Les Etoiles Gallery. Another major art fair, Context, is right next door.
Untitled Art Fair:
Untitled, pictured above, located in a large tent on the actual beach, is opening November 29 - December 3 with a VIP preview on Monday, November 28; the fair takes place at 12th Street and Ocean Drive. Some galleries to check out are Bienvenu Steinberg & J, Carvalho Park, El Apartamento, Henrique Faria, and Johansson Projects.
NADA:
Another favorite of art world insiders, NADA, will be opening November 30 - December 3 at Ice Palace Studios (VIP preview is the morning of Wednesday, November 30). Booths to check out include: Broadway, Rebecca Camacho Presents, Embajada, Friends Indeed, as well as local Miami galleries Nina Johnson and KDR305.
SCOPE:
Celebrating 20 years in Miami, SCOPE returns to it’s location on Ocean Drive at 8th Street. VIP Preview is Tuesday, November 29 with public days November 30 - December 4. Tickets available here.
Other fairs happening concurrently during ABMB include Design Miami, PINTA, Aqua Art Miami, Ink Miami, Red Dot Miami, Spectrum Miami and others.
Museums and Gallery Exhibitions:
Miami’s galleries and museums show their most anticipated work around this time. Some exhibition highlights include Leandro Erlich: Liminal at PAMM (opening November 29) and Fanny Sanín: Thresholds for Contemplation at Durban Segnini Gallery (opening December 2). Dot Fiftyone Gallery will be showing Gonzalo Fuenmayor, Marcos Castro and Anastasia Samoylova (opening November 18).
